Looking for a Tesla Model 3?

Styling: 3/5
Model 3 is a bit like the generic cars you see in video games. Attractive enough, but uninspiring. The lowered stance of the Performance trim does help a bit.

Interior: 3/5
It is minimalistic to the point where finding basic functions is distracting. The materials improved slightly in 2020, but itβs not a luxury car. It is cozy, though.

Comfort: 4/5
The ergonomics are excellent and the seats are well-cushioned. The semi-hidden HVAC works great. The ride is firm, but compliant over all but the worst of roads.

Practicality: 3/5
Between the trunk, frunk and folding seats, thereβs a decent amount of space, but it isnβt as practical as the hatchbacks in the segment. Lots of rear seat room though.

Dynamics: 3/5
The Model 3 has a sharp accelerator response that makes it fun in traffic, but it can be tricky to modulate in backroad driving. Steering weight is adjustable with some feedback, despite the mediocre base tire set up. Handling is more or less on par with $50-60k sport sedans.
Performance: 4/5
1 cm lower, with big brakes on Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires makes a big difference. Track mode allows for some hooliganism and the acceleration will embarrass supercars. Also, more chassis feedback comes through compared to the regular Model 3.

Technology: 4/5
The Model 3 has a plethora of sensors and cameras all working together to avoid collisions. The $11k self-driving add-on is the pinnacle of autonomous driving, but it does feel like Tesla is trying to replace, rather than help you drive.

Efficiency: 5/5
The efficiency is almost too good to be true. The base SR+ embarrasses much more expensive EVs with itβs relatively small battery. That said, it is very sensitive to cold temperatures (though a heat pump was added in 2020) and efficiency drops sharply above 100 km/h.

Value: 5/5
The Standard Range Plus is the best value for any car, EV or otherwise. It is a fun, well-equipped sporty sedan with a lower cost of ownership than the equivalent 3-series, A4 or C-class.
Long Range: 4/5
The Long Range has an inflated residual value, making it a good lease option. Now with a larger battery and acceleration boost upgrades, itβs an attractive all-rounder.
Performance: 3/5
The Performance is a lot of power-per-dollar, but for true performance car enthusiasts there are better options at the $75k+ price point.

Experience: 5/5
The buying experience is world class. Tesla Advisors are extremely knowledge in the product, and the purchase is completed online. The Supercharger network and integration is second-to-none. The cars arenβt perfect, but the ownership experience is very close.

Smile: 4/5
Theres a camaraderie among Tesla owners that doesnβt exist with other brands. Is it Elonβs quirky behavior? Is it the whoopee cushion app? Who knows, but you do feel it when you drive a Model 3. Itβs genuinely fun.
